Israeli Border Police and Civil Administration Demolish Buildings in Gush Etzion's Kochav Yehuda Farm
In Kochav Yehuda farm, located between the West Bank settlements of Efrat and Tekoa in Gush Etzion, Israeli Border Police and Civil Administration forces demolished residential buildings and infrastructure on Tuesday. Residents reported that dozens of Border Police officers, accompanied by Civil Administration inspectors and heavy machinery, carried out the operation, destroying a family home and a dormitory building for young men.
According to the residents, the demolition also included the destruction of a water tank used for drinking water supply. They claimed that Arab workers were brought in to damage equipment and construction materials with hammers and axes. Residents further alleged that, contrary to standard procedures, they were not allowed to remove their personal belongings and furniture before the demolition, resulting in their property being buried under the rubble.
During the eviction, residents said a Border Police officer pointed his weapon at them, and other officers attempted to prevent documentation of the event. Two residents were reportedly injured during clashes with the forces and received medical treatment on site. Following the operation, seven residents protesting the demolition were arrested. Witnesses stated that one detainee was a local father who was standing behind a safety railing and did not interfere with the authorities' work.
The demolition sparked protests and drew criticism from the local community, highlighting ongoing tensions in the area regarding Israeli administrative actions in West Bank settlements.
