Argentina Police Raid Weapons Cache with Nazi Symbols and Uniforms
Argentine police arrested a man who had offered for sale on Facebook army uniforms from the United States and Germany, especially those used during World War II. Detectives from Buenos Aires provincial police raided the seller's home, located in Gerli, in the Avellaneda district, and found a weapons cache and Nazi symbols, according to the Buenos Aires provincial security ministry. The investigation was conducted by the Counterterrorism Unit of the Inspectorate of Complex Crimes and Organized Crime Investigations.
On April 8, police received a report about an ad posted on Facebook in which a user named Fernando Martins was offering uniforms and military equipment for sale. By order of Judge Alberto Recondo, police detectives seized pistols, rifles, shotguns, ammunition, helmets and military jackets, as well as metal badges with swastikas and Nazi insignia. "Not only were there metal items with swastikas, but belts, hats, daggers and even a military medal with a swastika were seized," the Argentine police said.
The 46-year-old man was found with more than 150 rounds of ammunition. He is now under investigation on suspicion of terrorism and other related crimes.
