Maccabi Health Services Launches Digital Longevity Platform to Promote Healthy Aging in Israel
Maccabi Health Services is advancing longevity care in Israel by shifting from reactive to proactive, personalized medicine focused on maintaining health throughout life. Recently, Maccabi introduced "Maccabi Longevity," a new digital content platform on its website that consolidates expert knowledge, tools, and resources on healthy aging and quality of life. The platform covers five key areas influencing long-term health: physical activity, nutrition, mental health, cognition, and sleep, tailored to different life stages.
One of Maccabi's pioneering initiatives is the development of a unique Healthy Life Years Index, which estimates the number of years individuals live in good health and functional capacity based on health data, surveys, and mortality statistics. Additionally, Maccabi teams monitor members' health habits such as diet, exercise, smoking, and sleep to identify risk factors and implement targeted interventions encouraging behavioral change.
Maccabi was the first Israeli health fund to launch the 'Up-Up' service three years ago, promoting healthy lifestyles with over 10,000 daily bookings for health activities by hundreds of thousands of users. Dr. Nitzan Anu, head of Maccabi's Longevity division, emphasized that the service provides practical tools to help members adopt and maintain healthy habits, noting that even small lifestyle changes can have significant long-term effects.
Nutrition is another critical focus, with Maccabi offering advanced nutritional guidance and workshops to help members tailor diets, lose weight, and improve medical indicators for sustained health. Dr. Anu described longevity as the future of medicine and highlighted Maccabi's comprehensive ecosystem combining smart health measurement, digital tools, and professional training to expand services that enable members to live longer, healthier, and more active lives.
Maccabi CEO Sigal Dadon-Levi stated that the organization's leadership in longevity reflects its strategic vision to set new standards in community and personalized medicine in Israel. She underscored the importance of transitioning from disease treatment to health promotion and prevention, leveraging innovation, technology, data, and top professionals to revolutionize healthcare for millions of members.
