UN chief issues stern warning over reported settler violence

UN Secretary-General António Guterres issued a stern warning Thursday morning regarding incidents of settler violence in Judea and Samaria, and called for them to stop.

"There are alarming reports of settler violence coming from the occupied West Bank," Guterres wrote on his X account. "These abuses must cease. States must stand by all their obligations under international law. Without exception."

"Home demolitions, the relentless expansion of illegal Israeli settlements, the ongoing displacement of Palestinians, the threat of an attempted annexation that would, like the decades-long occupation, be of no legal validity," Guterres added, "risk making the two-state solution impossible, when there is no other viable option."
