Hapoel Be'er Sheva Captain Miguel Vitor Extends Contract for 11th Season
Hapoel Be'er Sheva officially announced on June 30, 2026, that their captain Miguel Vitor will continue with the club for an 11th season. Vitor, who turned 37 on the day of the announcement, has been with the southern Israeli club since the 2016/17 season and is considered one of the greatest players in the club's history. Over his tenure, he has won three league titles and three cups with Be'er Sheva.
Vitor, originally from Portugal, later acquired Israeli citizenship and has made 12 appearances for the Israeli national team after previously playing for Portugal's youth teams. In the most recent season, he served primarily as a backup center-back, appearing in 16 Israeli Premier League matches, including four starts. He also participated in all stages of the State Cup, where Be'er Sheva ultimately lost in the final to Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The announcement was first reported by Sport 5, and Vitor is expected to join the team’s training camp later the same day. The club’s coach, Ran Kojukh, will have Vitor available as a veteran presence for the upcoming season as they aim to defend their championship.
