9-Year-Old Girl Dies in Electric Scooter Accident with Minibus in Rosh HaAyin
A 9-year-old girl from Rosh HaAyin died after being hit by a minibus while riding an electric scooter on Shabazi Street. United Hatzalah medics provided initial emergency care at the scene, describing the girl as critically injured before she was rushed to Laniado Hospital. Magen David Adom paramedics continued advanced resuscitation efforts during transport, but her death was later confirmed.
The police detained the minibus driver, a man in his 30s from Kafr Qasim, for questioning as traffic investigators collected evidence to determine the accident's circumstances. The incident occurred at 16:10, according to official reports.
This tragic event highlights a growing concern over child road fatalities in Israel. Since the start of 2026, 37 children have died in traffic accidents, with 252 fatalities recorded over the past five years. Nearly 19% of those were children aged 5 to 9. Orly Silbinger, CEO of the safety organization Beterem, emphasized the urgent need for national cooperation to prevent such accidents and urged parents to remain vigilant, especially as children enter summer vacation and spend more time in public spaces without regular supervision.
