Senior Torah Authority Endorses 'Hashadchan' Matchmaking Initiative for Haredi Communities
A major development has emerged in the Haredi matchmaking world as Rabbi Meir Tzvi Bergman, a senior member of the Council of Torah Sages and head of a prominent yeshiva, has given his blessing to the matchmaking project "Hashadchan." Rabbi Amram Fried, the project's president and halachic decisor, presented Rabbi Bergman with a comprehensive overview of the initiative's operations and its security and supervision mechanisms during a visit to his residence.
"Hashadchan" operates through a supervised telephone system and digital platform designed to assist families facing matchmaking challenges. The process begins with parents conducting the initial search within a database, leveraging their close knowledge of their children. Once a potential match is identified, professional matchmakers affiliated with the system take over. The initiative emphasizes precise compatibility and relevance while maintaining modesty boundaries under the guidance of a spiritual committee.
A key feature presented to Rabbi Bergman was the unique security system called "the safe," which addresses the issue of photo distribution in matchmaking. This system prevents downloading, saving, or sharing images, allowing limited, time-bound viewing only after mutual consent. Impressed by the presentation, Rabbi Bergman praised the project as "wonderful and very significant," calling it "the future of Klal Yisrael" and a foundation for building faithful homes in Israel.
Rabbi Bergman's endorsement adds to previous support from Torah leaders such as Rabbis Dov Lando and Moshe Hillel Hirsch. The initiative operates under the guidance of Rabbi Yehoshua Eichenstein and Rabbi Amram Fried, with halachic supervision by Rabbi Yaakov Lando and a spiritual committee of rabbis and educators. According to "Hashadchan" management, over 340 families have been matched through the project so far, and Rabbi Bergman's blessing is expected to boost its expansion within the Lithuanian and Hasidic communities.
