Defense Minister Katz Demands Dismissal of Netanyahu Bribery Charge and Accountability
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz sharply criticized the handling of the bribery charge against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following a dramatic statement from the Jerusalem District Court. The court reiterated its original position that there remains a significant difficulty with the bribery allegation in the case. Katz accused the law enforcement leadership of conducting a politically motivated persecution over the years, describing the trial as a "sham," "abuse," and "political harassment."
In an official post on X (formerly Twitter), Katz called on the prosecution and the State Attorney's legal advisor to drop the central bribery charge against Netanyahu. He condemned their current refusal to heed the judges' signals, lamenting the lack of response with the phrase "no voice and no answer."
Katz went further than demanding the removal of the bribery count, insisting on the immediate dismissal of the entire legal proceeding. He also called for accountability from those responsible for initiating the case, labeling the indictment as "fabricated." Katz concluded his statement by demanding that those behind the indictment be held responsible for their actions.
