Biala Rebbe Honors Torah Scholars, Shares Father's Wisdom on Memory and Priorities
On Monday, the eighth of Tammuz, a grand event titled "Honor of the Torah and Its Students" was held at the Beit Vizhnitz hall in Bnei Brak, attended by hundreds of young yeshiva students from Biala. The ceremony, led by the Biala Rebbe alongside rabbis, yeshiva staff, and parents, celebrated the students' dedication and success in studying complex Talmudic tractates including Gittin, Kiddushin, Bava Kamma, and Bava Batra. The event highlighted years of diligent Torah study, especially on Fridays and Shabbat, days emphasized by the late "Mevaser Tov" of Biala.
The students were tested multiple times by leading Torah authorities, notably Rabbi Shmuel Eliezer Stern, who praised their efforts during the event. Rabbi Yoel Deskel, the spiritual director, addressed the audience, explaining that while the event honors past achievements, it primarily serves as a commitment to future Torah study, which has no limits.
The Biala Rebbe delivered the main speech, expressing gratitude to the Vizhnitz leadership for providing a large venue to honor Torah study. He shared a personal anecdote about his father, the "Mevaser Tov," who once asked him to write the home phone number prominently because he could not remember it. When questioned why, his father replied that he did not want to waste mental space on a phone number instead of Torah knowledge.
Attendees noted the significance of the occasion amid times when opponents of Torah study are rising, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and valuing Torah scholars and their efforts.
