According to a report by Channel 14, Shin Bet and Military Intelligence have gathered intelligence from multiple sources that could directly identify the alleged leaker. However, Zini revealed to ministers that the investigation has been obstructed by the head of the Shin Bet Investigations Division and the agency's legal advisor, acting under the guidance of State Attorney Gali Baharav-Miara.

A senior Shin Bet official reportedly conveyed a firm message from associates of the Investigations Division chief that no investigation will be opened, despite Zini's orders.
