Massive Wildfire Near Tayibe Prompts Evacuation of Silat Community in West Bank
A large-scale wildfire broke out on Sunday afternoon near the city of Tayibe in the West Bank, rapidly spreading due to weather conditions and strong winds. The fire posed an immediate threat to the nearby community of Silat, prompting emergency responders to initiate a preventive evacuation of the first line of homes in the village.
Fourteen firefighting teams from the Central District, supported by four firefighting aircraft from the "Elad" squadron, are actively battling the blaze. The aircraft are conducting frequent drops of foam and fire retardants to assist ground crews in containing the fire and protecting the residential area.
Fire and Rescue spokespersons reported that the main focus is establishing a defensive perimeter around Silat to prevent the fire from entering the community. Police forces are assisting by managing the scene, blocking roads, and ensuring the safe evacuation of residents. As of now, no casualties or structural damages have been reported. Firefighting efforts continue in full coordination until the fire is fully controlled.
