Israel Launches 'Good Deeds Trails' Nationwide to Promote Community Volunteering
To mark 20 years of "Good Deeds Day," a social initiative called the "Good Deeds Trail" has been inaugurated across multiple Israeli municipalities from north to south, including Daliyat al-Karmel, Ashdod, Ariel, Kiryat Motzkin, and Eilat. The project features experiential walking routes that highlight local social and volunteer activities through interactive stations with QR codes, allowing visitors to learn about community organizations and initiatives.
The trails aim to showcase local social work, encourage civic engagement, and integrate volunteerism into daily life. In Ariel, the trail was established in a community garden and launched with participation from diverse local partners such as the police, IDF units, city officials, student unions, and businesses, all united to expand volunteer involvement. Similarly, Ashdod's trail in Lachish Park was opened with a community event featuring children’s activities, booths, and music, highlighting the city’s volunteer stories.
In Kiryat Motzkin, students from Mitzpe School inaugurated the trail by walking the route, engaging with volunteer stories, and creating personal visions for a better world. Volunteers in Daliyat al-Karmel also participated in the trail’s opening. Additional activities on these trails are planned in the coming months, with local authorities providing information to residents.
The initiative is led by the "Ruach Tova" association of the Arison Group, founded by Shari Arison, which organizes Good Deeds Day under the slogan "United in Good." Idan Lotan, CEO of Ruach Tova, emphasized that the trails bring social action into public spaces, inspiring people to get involved by exposing them to volunteer stories up close. The project reflects the power of a united community and a shared desire to build a better society.
