Light Aircraft Crashes into Beijing's Tallest Skyscraper, Hundreds Evacuated
A rare incident occurred in Beijing on Friday morning when a light aircraft collided with the CITIC Tower, the tallest building in the city with 109 floors. Large debris from the upper part of the skyscraper fell to the ground, and the rear section of the light aircraft remained lodged on the building. Following the crash, the tower was evacuated, with hundreds of people moved to nearby streets and entrances as emergency services arrived on the scene.
CNN's correspondent at the location reported the evacuation and the swift response by emergency teams. Analysis of images shared online, showing the aircraft's registration number, identified the plane as a small Chinese-made Sunward SA60L Aurora. The aircraft is believed to be owned by a local airline company. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
