Ron Zipper returns to Israel, signs with Maccabi Rishon LeZion
Guard Ron Zipper is coming back to Israel after one season in the NCAA. On Friday morning, Maccabi Rishon LeZion announced it had signed the 23-year-old, 1.94-meter guard for the 2026/2027 season.
The club said Zipper is expected to bring “Israeli quality, shooting and creativity” to the backcourt. He will return from LSU, where he averaged 2.2 points per game.
Before going to LSU, Zipper spent three seasons with Hapoel Be'er Sheva. In the 2024/2025 season, he posted 11.1 points per game and shot 38.2% from three-point range.
Zipper was also a key player for Israel’s U20 national team. At the 2023 European Championship, he averaged 11.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game, and Israel lost the final to France.
