Detroit-Style Electric Chevrolet Blazer Arrives in Israel at 390,000 Shekels
Israel’s car market remains unusually detached from national loyalties, unlike the United States, Europe, China and South Korea, where buying habits are shaped by trade and security interests. In Israel, American cars have fallen to a historic low of 0.9% of the market in the first five months of 2026, while Chinese-made vehicles have surged to about 42%. Against that backdrop, Chevrolet is trying to win buyers with niche, unconventional models rather than mainstream hybrids or plug-in hybrids.
The latest example is the Chevrolet Blazer EV, a large electric crossover that reached Israel this year, two years after its U.S. debut. It is a striking, oversized vehicle, nearly 4.9 meters long, more than 2 meters wide with mirrors, and riding on a 3.1-meter wheelbase. The review describes its styling as highly dramatic, with slim lights, a blacked-out grille, 21-inch wheels and a tall, aggressive rear end that gives it real road presence.
Inside, the Blazer EV offers generous space for five adults, a 731-liter trunk, and a familiar GM layout with an 11-inch driver display and a 17.4-inch central screen. The infotainment interface was developed in Israel, and there are physical buttons for key functions, including quickly disabling annoying driver-assistance systems. Equipment is rich, with a head-up display, panoramic sunroof, surround cameras and separate rear climate control, though some materials feel less premium than Cadillac’s. The sound system is only average.
The drivetrain uses two electric motors with 300 hp, far less than Cadillac’s related EVs, but still enough for a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds. The 85 kWh battery is rated for up to 455 km under the stricter U.S. test cycle, and fast charging peaks at 190 kW. On the road, the car is comfortable in relaxed driving, though body roll appears in tighter corners and low-speed urban bumps can be felt. The Israeli price is 390,000 shekels, below many premium rivals from Japan and Germany and near the top of Chinese flagship pricing. The review concludes that it will not be a bestseller, but its American character and practical family cabin make it distinctive.
