MK Moshe Saada spoke on Thursday on Radio Galey Yisrael about Haredi protests against military conscription, arguing that road blockades cannot be tolerated. “Can everyone block the country for whatever they want? That is unacceptable,” he said, adding that the state must ensure “one law for everyone.” He said those who block roads should be punished and insisted that authorities must show “zero tolerance” for breaking the law, regardless of which side is involved.
Saada said the obstruction of traffic amounts to a public-order violation that prevents people and soldiers from getting home and keeps ambulances from moving. He also referred to claims that road closures at the Kaplan protests were not enforced, saying, “It is true there was terrible injustice and nothing was enforced, but I am looking ahead.” He called the lack of enforcement there “damage” and said it was wrong.
Looking forward, Saada said that within a few months, there will be a “day after” Gali Baharav-Miara and a “day after” Amit Isman. He said a proper attorney general and state prosecutor will be appointed, and that “we will fix the justice system from end to end and enforce it against everyone.” The article also notes that, in the same context, Haredim blocked a Kan 11 journalist.
