At Maccabi Tel Aviv’s launch of its 2026/27 kits, winger Sayd Abu Farchi said he hopes the new shirt will help bring a successful season and, in time, a title celebration. He also joked about his scoring target after being asked whether the jersey would carry him to 20 goals, saying, “I hope so very much,” and adding that it is “a great pleasure” to be part of the presentation as a player who loves the club.
Abu Farchi praised coach Kenny Miller, saying the squad is happy with his appointment because he has brought change, energy and constant drive. “I’m glad he is with us,” he said, expressing hope the team can succeed together under Miller.
Asked about Dor Peretz and his unresolved contract situation, Abu Farchi was blunt: if it were up to him, Peretz would already be signed. “If I had money, I would pay him,” he said with a laugh. He called Peretz a club symbol and said everyone knows how important he is to the dressing room, the supporters and the players, adding that he hopes the matter is resolved soon and that Peretz stays.
Abu Farchi also welcomed the arrival of new sporting director Steven Vanhoren, saying fresh blood is always good even though he does not know him well yet. Looking back on last season, he said he feels more experienced and achieved the goals he set for himself, including playing regularly, reaching the lineup and being involved in 10 goals. He said he is now setting new targets for the coming campaign. Defender Ofer Melika described the new kits as beautiful and the presentation as emotional, and said the team’s immediate focus is its training camp as it works toward winning back the championship.
