Three employees at a Wendy’s in Union, South Carolina, were arrested on suspicion of taking food from a trash bin, spitting on it, and serving it to a customer who had already complained about her meal. The workers identified as Aaliyah Shuntai Sanders, 23, Trinity Lashell Rice, 19, and Shadela Crystal Holley, 33, were arrested separately between June 16 and June 22.
The incident happened on May 31, when a drive-thru customer found a problem with her order. She asked for a refund, but after staff took the food back, workers offered to remake the order and she accepted. The customer then left the restaurant with the replacement meal.
While driving away, she got a call from someone at the restaurant telling her that one employee had pulled the food from the trash and spat on it. When she checked the meal, she realized the “new order” was actually the same food she had originally received.
She immediately went to police to report the incident. The customer also called the restaurant, where a manager confirmed he had spoken with staff and verified her claims. According to the manager, the three employees involved had already received written reprimands after the episode.
