Six Arrested After Violent Street Party in North Charleston Including Police Assault

On July 4, a street party in the Chicora-Cherokee neighborhood of North Charleston, South Carolina, escalated into violence involving gunfire and attacks on police officers. Authorities responded to reports of fireworks being shot at vehicles and later to gunfire. When police attempted to disperse the crowd, fights broke out and additional shots were fired. During the incident, officers confiscated weapons including a machine gun and an improvised spear with a knife blade.

A video circulated on social media showed several individuals violently assaulting a female officer, throwing her to the ground as she tried to make an arrest. Two female officers sustained minor injuries. Six people were arrested, including four minors. The adults arrested were 19-year-old Giovanni McKay Sincere Campbell, charged with possession of a machine gun, and 18-year-old Samia Adriana Colt Weber, charged with assaulting an officer and disturbing the peace.

The minors face multiple charges including mob assault, assaulting an officer during arrest resistance, resisting arrest, possession of a machine gun, and disorderly conduct. North Charleston police stated the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests and charges are possible.
