Morocco entered its Group C match against Haiti at the 2026 World Cup with a chance to finish first in the group. After drawing Brazil 1-1 and then beating Scotland, Morocco had already secured progress to the next round and now hoped for a big win to edge out Brazil for first place.
Haiti, led by Sebastian Migne, was already eliminated before kickoff. The team, captained by Frantzdy Pierrot, was still aiming for its first goal of the tournament and possibly its first ever World Cup point, which would keep it from matching El Salvador’s unwanted record of six defeats in six World Cup matches.
Morocco coach Mohammed Wahbi changed his lineup, giving Ayoub El Kaabi his first start after leaving him out of the first two matches. Sofiane Amrabat returned to midfield, allowing 18-year-old Ayyoub Bouaddi to rest. On the other side, Pierrot was benched and replaced by Louicius Don Deedson Joseph.
The match was played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and officiated by Dutch referee Danny Makkelie. Morocco lined up in a 4-5-1 formation with Yassine Bounou in goal and Achraf Hakimi in defense, while Haiti used a 4-4-2. The Group C standings before the game showed Brazil and Morocco on four points each, Scotland on three, and Haiti with none. The knockout schedule runs from June 28 to July 19, with the final set for July 19.
