Napoli has made Anan Khalaili one of its main transfer targets, but the deal for the Israeli winger has hit an unexpected obstacle. Italian reports say Union Saint-Gilloise is now asking for 25 million euros, a figure that would set a record fee for an Israeli player if completed.
The Belgian club’s higher demand is tied to the sell-on clause owed to Maccabi Haifa. Haifa is due 15% of any future profit on Khalaili, after selling him for 6.5 million euros in the summer of 2024. At a 25 million euro sale price, Haifa would receive about 2.77 million euros.
According to the report, Union Saint-Gilloise increased its asking price because of that obligation. Napoli, however, is not prepared to pay the full amount. Media in Italy are talking about a 15 million euro offer, and say Napoli would be willing to go only as high as 20 million euros, leaving a significant gap.
Khalaili has enjoyed a career-best season with the Belgian side, which is why Napoli is pursuing him, but the parties remain far apart on valuation. The move now depends on whether Napoli can bridge the difference, or whether Union Saint-Gilloise holds firm on its price.
