Dolav Haziza is still deciding his next step after Maccabi Haifa informed him he is not part of the club’s professional plans. The 30-year-old midfielder has already started training with the team, but he wants to spend the season in a place where he will actually play. He is said to be disappointed and surprised by the decision, since he believed he had a real chance to stay in the squad and compete for his place.
If he fails to find a club or a contract that satisfies him, Haziza could remain at Maccabi Haifa and try to fight for a spot, similar to the case of Guy Melamed in the past. Given the instability and uncertainty around the squad, that option is seen as realistic. Haziza’s camp is trying to absorb the situation before making a final decision.
Several clubs in Israel have not ruled out signing him during the current transfer window, but nothing immediate is expected. Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Tel Aviv are monitoring the situation, though any move would depend on later developments in squad building. Another option being explored by his agent, Adam Kidan, is a first-ever move abroad. If that happens, it would likely be to a mid-level European league, not one of the continent’s top divisions.
Haziza also has domestic alternatives. Bnei Yehuda is interested, and Maccabi Netanya has also expressed interest. Netanya’s large fan base and long tradition could appeal to him if he wants to rebuild his career there. Hapoel Petah Tikva was also mentioned as a possible destination, but that route would probably only become relevant if Maccabi Haifa pays him substantial compensation.
