Fire crews were called on Monday evening to a bus blaze on Route 77 near Zarzir Junction. The fire spread from the bus into nearby open ground, prompting firefighters to work both to extinguish the vehicle and to stop the flames from spreading further.
The incident commander, Fire Chief Mishiko Turjeman, said that when the teams arrived they found “a bus burning intensely” and the fire already moving into the adjacent open area. He said the crews quickly concentrated their efforts on putting out the bus and containing the blaze, which prevented additional damage to the area.
Firefighters later brought the main fire under control and were continuing final extinguishing work at the scene. Following the incident, traffic congestion was reported in the area, and Israel Police closed one lane of traffic there.
