Lebanese media reported on Tuesday that an Israeli military aircraft struck the area of Nabatieh al-Faouqa in southern Lebanon, in what was said to be the first Israel-linked attack in the country in about three days. According to the initial reports, two people were killed and two others were wounded.
The strike comes after roughly 72 hours without reported Israeli attacks inside Lebanon. The report also lands against a backdrop of repeated public warnings from Iran in recent weeks, saying continued Israeli operations in Lebanon could be seen as violating understandings reached between Washington and Tehran.
Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon quickly reacted to the incident, warning that it could affect regional diplomatic efforts. He said, “Any violation of the memorandum of understanding in Lebanon will create challenges for the peace talks process.” No further details on the target or the identities of those killed and injured were given in the report.
