An ultra-Orthodox man has been indicted for allegedly assaulting former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett by throwing a salt shaker at him during a visit to a restaurant in Bnei Brak on Thursday, September 26th. The suspect, a 26-year-old resident of the city, reportedly hurled a glass salt shaker towards the table where Bennett was meeting with local residents. The salt shaker struck two women on Bennett's staff, and the suspect then threw another glass object that fell near the table.

Police officers and Border Police forces present at the scene immediately apprehended the suspect. He was taken for questioning at the Bnei Brak-Ramat Gan police station, after which his detention was repeatedly extended. Following the conclusion of the investigation, the prosecution unit of the Tel Aviv District Police filed an indictment against the young man.

He faces charges including simple assault, attempted simple assault, and behavior likely to disturb the public peace. Prosecutors have also requested that he be held under house arrest until the legal proceedings are completed.
