Hapoel Tel Aviv announced on Tuesday that left back Doron Leidner has signed a new three-year contract, keeping him at the club at least through the end of the 2028/29 season. The extension became possible only after his permanent transfer from Greek club Olympiacos was completed.
Leidner, 24, is one of the most recognizable products of Hapoel Tel Aviv’s youth system. After a difficult spell in Greece that included a serious injury, he returned last summer for a second stint at Hodorov and is now expected to remain a key part of the club’s Israeli core. Hapoel said he will continue to wear the red shirt for the next three years and serve as an important piece of the squad’s backbone.
Over his career with the senior team, Leidner has made 92 appearances, scoring one goal and adding six assists. The club views him as both an on-field asset and a dressing-room leader, and the coaching staff led by Eliniv Barda believes that, with the transfer situation resolved, he can recapture the form that once marked him as one of Israeli football’s most promising fullbacks.
Leidner said after signing, “I am happy to continue at a club that is dear to my heart. I thank the management and the professional staff for the renewed trust in me. My goal is to repay the fans on the pitch, and I believe we will experience many more shared and successful moments together.”
