Israeli Passenger Recounts Harrowing Mid-Air Struggle to Prevent Plane Crash

Assaf Radwan, an Israeli businessman on vacation in Thailand, described the terrifying moments he and four other passengers fought to regain control of a plane that was reportedly diving sharply. The incident began when screams were heard from the plane's lavatory, followed by the realization that the aircraft had lost control and was descending rapidly. Radwan recounted seeing blood in the cockpit and entering with other passengers to confront the co-pilot, whom they subdued with zip ties and held for 55 minutes.

During the struggle, two additional British flight crew members entered the cockpit and managed to stabilize the aircraft. Radwan specifically credited a crew member named James for regaining control of the plane and preventing a potential catastrophe. Following the emergency landing in Saudi Arabia, some passengers, including Radwan, hesitated to board a replacement Flydubai flight due to fear and a lack of immediate assurances about the crew's safety.

Radwan expressed ongoing shock and disbelief over the ordeal, comparing it to a "nightmare movie." He emphasized that the successful intervention was a collective effort by several brave individuals, stating, "Life is stronger than anything." He refrained from speculating on the co-pilot's motives, focusing instead on the actions taken to save the plane and its passengers.

The incident occurred shortly after Radwan had been enjoying a family vacation, highlighting the abrupt and unexpected nature of the event. He expressed relief at returning to Israel and resuming his normal life, including playing tennis, his passion.
