Saudi Arabia Facilitates Evacuation of Israelis After Mid-Air Assault

Saudi authorities have reportedly rejected offers from El Al and the Israeli military to send aircraft for the evacuation of Israeli passengers stranded in the Kingdom. The passengers are expected to arrive in Israel around 6 PM local time and will undergo security questioning upon arrival. Some evacuees are reportedly hesitant to board the flight due to fears of traveling on the airline again.

The incident that led to the situation involved an altercation between pilots during a flight, which resulted in a sudden, sharp descent. Israeli sources suggest one pilot allegedly stabbed the other before crew members intervened and regained control of the aircraft. Israeli security sources are investigating the possibility of a terrorist motive, with initial information indicating the suspect pilot may be of Omani origin, while the other pilot holds Emirati citizenship. Investigations are ongoing.

One passenger described how travelers subdued the suspect pilot, stating, "We pounced on the pilot and tied him up using headphones." Tabuk Airport confirmed that the captain and co-pilot were injured and hospitalized, while passengers received necessary care.

In response to the incident, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is holding security consultations with officials and aviation authorities. Channel 12 reported that Mossad chief Roman Gofman is leading the management of the situation and communication with Saudi authorities.
