Hostage Survivor Defends Lifschitz, Calls for State Inquiry

Eli Sharabi, a former hostage and bereaved family member, has publicly defended Yocheved Lifschitz following criticism she received for her remarks against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Sharabi stated that Lifschitz's comments were not directed at the public but at the government.

Sharabi, who is set to host a families' ceremony, described it as a "different, special, and moving" event, a memorial ceremony "as the people of Israel deserve, uniting the entire nation." He spoke about the daily struggle with bereavement, noting that loss is a constant presence, but acknowledged the importance of days when everyone unites around the memory of the fallen.

Sharabi also criticized the state's handling of memorial events, stating that as a bereaved family member and former hostage, he is unsure if or where a state ceremony is being held. He further addressed reports about warnings Netanyahu received before the October 7th attack, calling for a state commission of inquiry.

"A state commission of inquiry is needed after every war to check, learn, investigate, and draw conclusions. Nothing is more important than that," Sharabi asserted. He emphasized that such an inquiry should examine the events leading up to the attack.
