Gadi Eisenkot Campaign Official Discusses Election Strategy and Gaza War

Alexander Gorodnitsky, head of the Russian-speaking staff for Gadi Eisenkot's "Yashar!" party, discussed the upcoming Israeli elections and the ongoing conflict in Gaza in an exclusive interview. Gorodnitsky highlighted the importance of engaging the Russian-speaking electorate, noting that "Yashar!" aims to be a broad, non-sectarian party with genuine representation for this demographic, contrasting it with parties traditionally focused on this voter base.

He explained that "Yashar!" offers an advantage because it is a major party aiming to form the government, providing a direct channel for Russian-speaking representatives to influence policy at the highest levels. Gorodnitsky also addressed potential coalition partners, stating that Eisenkot opposes the creation of a Palestinian state and will not form a government with the Arab party Ra'am, nor will he rely on its external support.

Regarding the Gaza war, Gorodnitsky clarified Eisenkot's stance on a ceasefire, emphasizing that the goal was the release of hostages, not capitulation to Hamas. He argued that Israel has not achieved a complete victory as Hamas remains armed and capable of posing a threat. Gorodnitsky also commented on campaign strategies, praising Prime Minister Netanyahu as a highly effective campaigner and suggesting that opposition campaigns sometimes suffer from too many messages, advocating for clear, concise messaging.

He also touched upon the role of former US President Donald Trump, calling him one of the most pro-Israel US presidents. Gorodnitsky believes that while the Trump administration imposed limitations, Israel could theoretically have resumed military actions after hostage releases and a potential shift in US political dynamics.
