Released Haredi Man Jailed for Torah Study Vows to Boycott Elections

A young Haredi man, recently released from military prison after being incarcerated for studying Torah, participated in a large march and rally in Jerusalem honoring "Torah world prisoners", students and married men arrested and sentenced for failing to report to IDF recruitment offices. The man described his arrest and imprisonment, emphasizing the crucial support he received from the "Notnim Gav" (Giving Back) organization, which provided legal and spiritual guidance, as well as support for his family.

He recounted how the organization's assistance transformed his experience from one of fear to one of strength, knowing he had backing. "The arrests are stressful, but the moment you know you have an organization behind you that supports you and guides you, tells you exactly what will happen in detention and trial, tells you what your rights are, the whole detention changes," he stated.

Alongside his gratitude for "Notnim Gav," the man expressed deep disappointment with Haredi Knesset members, whom he accused of abandoning him and other detainees during their time of need. "I approached many Knesset members who claimed they would help, but in the moment of truth, they didn't help," he said, adding that only the "Notnim Gav" organization truly assisted them.

As a result of this perceived lack of support from elected officials, the man declared that he, along with thousands of others in similar situations, intends to boycott the upcoming elections. He stated that the families of detainees also witnessed the failure of Knesset members to provide the promised assistance.
