Dor Alon Counters Yellow's Hot Dog Deal With Full Meal Offer

The competition for the cheapest hot dog at Israeli gas stations has intensified. Following Yellow's successful promotion of a hot dog in a bun for 5 shekels, which garnered significant social media attention, Dor Alon's Alonit chain has launched a new offer. Customers can now purchase a large hot dog in a bun along with a canned drink for 9.90 shekels, a substantial discount from the usual 24.90 shekels. This deal is available at Alonit and Mini Super Alonit stores, subject to terms and conditions.

The move comes after Yellow's August promotion, where a hot dog meal was sold for 5 shekels to customers paying via the chain's app. This offer sold over 250,000 units in weeks. However, the low price also sparked online discussion and jokes about the hot dog's size relative to the bun. Yellow explained the bun was intentionally larger to accommodate an optional second hot dog for an additional 5 shekels.

Dor Alon had previously responded to Yellow's promotion with its own campaign emphasizing hot dog size, under the slogan "Size Does Matter," and a jab, "Don't make a big fuss over something small." That promotion offered a hot dog for 14.90 shekels, down from 21.90 shekels.

Now, Dor Alon is shifting its strategy by bundling a drink with the hot dog, presenting a complete meal deal for 9.90 shekels. The company states this initiative is part of its broader effort to provide added value to customers, citing previous promotions like a 1-shekel iced coffee. Dor Alon aims to offer convenient and affordable solutions for travelers beyond just fuel and convenience store purchases.

The new offer is valid from October 5 to November 9, 2026, or while supplies last. It requires a minimum purchase of 29.90 shekels at Alonit and Mini Super Alonit stores.
