Algeria earned its first win at the 2026 World Cup, beating Jordan 2-1 in Santa Clara. Jordan took the lead in the 36th minute when Nizar Al-Rashdan scored, but Algeria turned the game around in the second half.
Nadir Benbouali equalized in the 69th minute, and Amine Gouiri completed the comeback in the 82nd minute to secure the victory. The result denied Jordan what would have been its first-ever World Cup win.
Jordan’s King Abdullah, Crown Prince Hussein and his wife Rajwa attended the match, but they did not see their team achieve that milestone.
