Netanyahu Nominee Yaakov Bardugo Discusses Mother's Passing and Proposed Legislation

Yaakov Bardugo, recently nominated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, appeared on Channel 14's "Sukkah of Riklin" program where he spoke emotionally about his late mother, who passed away in May. Responding to a question from host Shimon Riklin about coping with grief, Bardugo stated, "A mother is a mother at any age, even at our age and at her age, the holidays without her are very difficult." He expressed pride in his mother's legacy, particularly her role in shaping a family centered on love for the Land of Israel and tradition, adding, "I am proud to be her son."

Bardugo also discussed his decision to accept Netanyahu's offer to join the Knesset and a legislative proposal he intends to advance. According to Bardugo's proposal, once an individual is included on a Knesset candidate list, new investigations into actions taken before their candidacy would be prohibited. However, investigations into actions occurring after their candidacy would proceed as normal. "I don't know if they will accept my opinion, but my opinion is that it will not be permissible to open an investigation from the moment you are placed on the list of candidates for the Knesset, until that moment, it is forbidden to investigate retroactively. An investigation forward, yes. If you committed any offense, if you did something: yes. Until then, it is forbidden," Bardugo explained.
