Hapoel HaEmek Dominates Maccabi Rishon LeZion in Winner Cup Victory

Hapoel HaEmek secured a decisive 80-59 victory over Maccabi Rishon LeZion in the Winner Cup basketball tournament. The win propelled Hapoel HaEmek to ninth place in the final standings, while Maccabi Rishon LeZion finished tenth.

Cameron Henry was the standout player for Hapoel HaEmek, scoring 26 points. The game started closely, with Rishon LeZion initially taking the lead. However, Hapoel HaEmek, fueled by Henry and CJ Albee, launched an impressive 18-0 run that extended into the second quarter, establishing a 15-point lead.

Despite a brief comeback attempt by Rishon LeZion, which narrowed the gap to seven points, Hapoel HaEmek regained control. Albee, Henry, and Malik Hall dominated the paint, extending their lead to a game-high 24 points. Although the visiting team managed to reduce the deficit slightly towards the end, the northern team's victory was ultimately overwhelming.

For Maccabi Rishon LeZion, Chauncey Jenkins was the top scorer with 22 points, notably making 12 of 13 free throws. Josh Freund was the only other player on the team to reach double digits, a statistic that raises concerns for coach Guy Kaplan.
