Maccabi Tel Aviv Coach Oded Katash Discusses Team's Challenges Ahead of Besiktas Clash

Maccabi Tel Aviv's head coach, Oded Katash, has spoken about the team's preparations and challenges ahead of their upcoming EuroLeague game against Turkish side Besiktas. The team is set to travel to Belgrade for the match, which features four former Maccabi players on the Besiktas roster. Katash acknowledged that the team has much to learn after an opening EuroLeague loss to Villeurbanne, emphasizing the need for players to connect and improve individually and collectively.

Guard Jaron Blossomgame stated that he personally needs to improve his game and adapt to European basketball and the EuroLeague, highlighting the importance of aggression on both offense and defense, as advised by Katash. Katash also confirmed that John DiBartolomeo will not travel with the team due to his brother's wedding, and Goran Lavi is out with an injury.

Katash expressed frustration over not playing home games in Israel, noting that it complicates travel and the start of the season. He described Besiktas as a fast-paced team that can trouble stronger opponents, despite not being considered top EuroLeague contenders. He stressed the need for his team to be more physical and aggressive, stating that this 'toughness' is currently lacking in their character.

Guard Jalen Adams echoed Katash's sentiments about playing away from home, emphasizing the importance of energy, teamwork, and defense for 40 minutes to secure a win. Adams also voiced his agreement with Katash regarding the desire to play games in Israel, expressing hope for a return soon, especially seeing normalcy in the country.
