Former Haaretz Journalist Slams Israeli Left for Disconnecting Public from Jewish Identity

Beni Tsipor, a former senior journalist at the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, has sharply criticized the Israeli left, accusing it of a prolonged effort to alienate the public from Jewish tradition and identity. Speaking on the evening program hosted by Doron Cohen on Radio Galey Israel, Tsipor discussed what he perceives as deep societal shifts in Israel and a conceptual gap on the part of the left.

Tsipor asserted that the left remains stuck in the past, failing to grasp that their worldview is obsolete and that demographics have changed. He believes the public is returning to its roots, stating, "We have here a people that has essentially returned to being the people of Israel." He accused the left of indoctrinating the public for decades to dislike religion and disrespect certain values.

According to Tsipor, this attempt ultimately failed against the public's "natural health." He concluded, "This people, healthy in soul and spirit, understood that this is not the way, and now it has returned to what it is."
