Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz faced his Southampton teammates, Irish midfielder Ryan Manning and forward Finn Azaz, in a match that ended in a 3-0 victory for Ireland. Manning started for Ireland, while Peretz played for Israel, and Azaz was in the Irish squad but did not play, having himself been involved in controversy.

The match occurred after a tumultuous 48 hours for the Irish camp, during which former Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu declared he would not participate in games against Israel. Obviously, the talk bothers us, but it comes from ignorance, there isn't one person there who truly understands and knows, but it's their problem."
