Hundreds of Settlers Storm Al-Aqsa Mosque Under Heavy Police Guard
On Tuesday, 907 Israeli settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex through the Mughrabi Gate, escorted by a heavy contingent of Israeli police. During their visit, the settlers performed Talmudic rituals, prayers, and sang songs, accompanied by clapping. The Jerusalem Governorate stated that these incursions occurred on the fourth day of the Jewish Sukkot holiday, noting that settlers conducted their rituals in the mosque's courtyards under police protection.
The Governorate also reported that settlers assaulted citizens, beating and dragging them in the Bab al-Amud area, and shared videos documenting these assaults on social media. These incursions coincide with heightened security measures around the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, including restrictions on the entry and movement of worshippers.
September has seen repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa, with 1,731 settlers entering just the day before, on Monday. According to the Jerusalem Governorate, over 40,661 settlers have entered Al-Aqsa since the beginning of 2026 up to the end of August. Additionally, approximately 800 Palestinians have been banned from the mosque since the start of the year until early September.
