Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Edelstein Dances with Torches at Sukkot Celebration
Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Edelstein, the chief rabbi of the Neot Yosef neighborhood and the Nachlat Yaakov community in Bnei Brak, led a "Hakabalat Panim Ribo" (welcoming the rabbi) gathering for his followers on Monday. The event, held in observance of the Sukkot holiday, began with the rabbi delivering Torah insights and holiday wisdom from his sukkah.
Among the attendees was Knesset Member Yaakov Asher, who received a warm blessing from Rabbi Edelstein. Following this, community members approached the rabbi to receive holiday blessings.
Later, Rabbi Edelstein moved to his study hall where he engaged in enthusiastic dancing in celebration of Simchat Beit Hashoeva, a festival associated with Sukkot. During the height of the celebration, he was seen dancing with two burning torches, a symbolic act recalling ancient temple rituals, while the melody "Le'orer Libi Le'ahavatecha" (To Awaken My Heart to Your Love) played.
A touching scene unfolded as the rabbi sat in the center of the study hall, surrounded by the community's children who danced joyfully around him.
