Google Maps Satellite Imagery Reveals Extent of Gaza Destruction
Google Maps has updated its satellite imagery of the Gaza Strip with photos taken in January and February 2026, revealing the scale of destruction across the territory. The updated visuals show neighborhoods in Rafah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza transformed into rubble, alongside extensive tent encampments.
According to UNOSAT, the United Nations Satellite Centre, a staggering 201,290 structures in Gaza have been damaged. This figure represents approximately 82% of all buildings in the Strip, with 134,422 of them completely destroyed. The satellite images cover an area of about 235 square kilometers.
