Quentin Tarantino has been cast in a new film by Welsh director Jamie Adams, according to a report published Monday by Variety. The Oscar-winning writer and director, who has increasingly acted in his own projects and others, was recently seen filming alongside Australian pop star Kylie Minogue, who is also in the cast.
The new project is not the pair’s first collaboration with Adams. Tarantino and Minogue recently appeared in Adams’ film Only What We Carry, which premiered earlier this month at the Tribeca Festival. That film also stars Simon Pegg, Sophia Boutella and Charlotte Gainsbourg. The title and plot of the new movie have not yet been released.
In the new production, Tarantino and Minogue are working with Welsh actors Karen Pola, Julian Lewis Jones, Craig Russell and Siôn Morris. Photos and video from the set circulated on social media over the weekend before the casting news was confirmed.
Speaking to Variety earlier this year about working with Tarantino, Adams said he sent the filmmaker a synopsis and a letter because he believed in him as an actor. “I didn’t think I’d hear back from him,” Adams said. But two weeks later, Tarantino’s agent replied that he was interested in meeting on Zoom. Adams described the conversation as “Disneyland for filmmakers,” and said Tarantino was in the film two days later.
