Quentin Tarantino, whose last film was 2019’s "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," was recently photographed on a set in Cardiff, Wales, working on an unidentified project. Australian singer Kylie Minogue was also seen on set. The director, who lives in Israel and has said his 10th film would also be his last, has kept fans guessing after shelving "The Movie Critic" and handing David Fincher the script for "The Adventures of Cliff Booth," a spinoff from "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" expected later this year.
At the same time, Tarantino is still involved in several other projects. The biggest is a new play he wrote, set to open in London’s West End in early 2027 under the title "The Popinjay Cavalier." Deadline’s official synopsis says the story takes place around 1830 in Europe and describes it as a "rampant comedy of deception and disguise," inspired by adventurous stage and screen epics, with Tarantino’s trademark style and humor.
Earlier reporting in the Daily Mail portrayed the play as a British farce in the tradition of "Noises Off," the 1980s comedy about the chaos behind a failing stage production. In March, reports also emerged that Tarantino was developing a six-episode gangster series with Sylvester Stallone, set in the 1930s and planned in black and white, featuring "gangsters, showgirls, boxing and music." Tarantino is said to co-direct the series with Stallone, though Stallone is not expected to act in it.
A few weeks later, another report said a sequel to "Django Unchained" was in development, crossing Django with Zorro in an adaptation of the comic "Django/Zorro." The comic was written with Tarantino’s involvement alongside Matt Wagner. Although Tarantino had earlier explored making the film himself and a draft script was prepared with outreach to Antonio Banderas, he is not expected to direct or write this version. Sony is developing it, with Brian Helgeland, the writer of "Mystic River," handling the screenplay.
