Rabbis and students across the Torah world are praying for Rabbi Abraham Yehoshua Soloveichik, the head of Brisk Yeshiva, after a sudden and serious deterioration in his condition. He was hospitalized for the third time on Monday afternoon in the intensive care unit at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.
Soloveichik has been in the hospital for about two weeks after feeling unwell in his heart and undergoing a complex cardiac operation. His condition worsened afterward, and he was moved for continued life-saving treatment. Over the past week, doctors had seen cautious optimism as his condition improved significantly.
Earlier on Monday, family members were preparing for his planned discharge, and he was already in the process of leaving the hospital. At the last moment, however, his condition sharply declined, prompting medical staff to rush him back and readmit him under close ICU monitoring.
Following the alarming news, learning in Brisk institutions and yeshivas was halted, and large numbers of people gathered to recite Psalms. The public was urged to intensify prayers and pleas for the full and speedy recovery of Rabbi Abraham Yehoshua ben Atill, amid the other sick of Israel.
