Rabbi Aharon Soloveitchik Delivers First Lesson at Home After Two Months of Illness
After nearly two months of weakness and illness, Rabbi Aharon Soloveitchik, head of the Brisk yeshiva, gave his first Torah lesson yesterday at his home in Jerusalem. The lesson took place at the traditional time of 3:30 p.m. and was attended by his younger sons who regularly assist him, along with a limited group of extended family members and a select few senior students from the yeshiva. Despite still being connected to an IV and in the midst of recovery from a serious medical condition, the rabbi delivered a nearly full-length lesson lasting one hour and ten minutes, slightly shorter than his usual eighty-minute sessions.
Rabbi Soloveitchik shared with those present that his doctors agreed that resuming Torah teaching would aid his recovery and help refresh his body. He apologized for not yet being able to teach his full audience of hundreds of regular students and explained that for now, lessons can only be held at his home with a small approved group. The news has brought great joy to the yeshiva community, who continue to pray fervently for his full restoration to health and strength.
