Israel Beiteinu MK: Largest Party May Not Form Government

With less than a month until election day, Oded Forer, the second-ranked candidate for the Yisrael Beiteinu party, stated that the largest party in the upcoming elections will not necessarily be the one to form the next government. Speaking on "Mahadura 15," Forer emphasized that these elections are not personal, and there is no legal requirement for the largest party to form the government, suggesting such a law might need to be enacted.

Forer drew parallels to past elections, noting that in 2021, a coalition was formed despite running with multiple leaders, while in 2022, a single-leader bloc under Yair Lapid resulted in a "terrible government" and, in his view, contributed to the events of October 7th.

He asserted that Yisrael Beiteinu's priority is to replace the current government, which he deems responsible for the October 7th attacks. Forer expressed his belief that Avigdor Lieberman, the party leader, is the most suitable candidate for prime minister due to his experience and his alleged foresight regarding the October 7th events.

Forer predicted that Yisrael Beiteinu will be the surprise of the elections, citing positive feedback from the public regarding Lieberman's political acumen and his stance prior to the attacks. When asked about the possibility of joining a government with Benjamin Netanyahu, Forer stated that Netanyahu should face legal proceedings for his alleged criminal negligence leading up to October 7th, comparing the situation to a case where a youth leader received a prison sentence following a disaster.

He added that Lieberman is the only politician who foresaw October 7th and maintained his position despite political costs.
