Israel Soccer Team Confronts Irish Players Over Gaza Remarks

During a heated soccer match on Sunday where the Israeli national team lost 3-0 to Ireland, Israeli players reported being subjected to provocations by their Irish opponents. Mid-game, Israeli players complained to the referee that Irish player Jayson Molumby was cursing at them and called Ariel Peretz a "monkey," sparking a loud confrontation between the two.

Following the match, Everton defender Jake O'Brien allegedly shouted from the locker room towards Israeli captain Manor Solomon, "You should be ashamed of yourselves for what you are doing in Gaza. You deserve to lose." Solomon reportedly responded, "Come out, be a man. Don't talk from behind a wall. It's a shame the game wasn't in Israel, you would understand what is the best country in the world."

Security personnel and the head of the Football Association's information division, Shlomi Barzel, intervened to de-escalate the situation. A member of the Israeli delegation stated, "Manor said what we think without fear, without blinking."

Throughout the game, the Irish team continued their protests against the Israeli team. All Irish staff wore black armbands and averted their gaze when passing Israeli staff.
