Suspect Arrested for Pepper Spraying 9-Year-Old in Jerusalem
Israeli police arrested a 22-year-old man on Sunday evening on suspicion of assaulting a 9-year-old child with pepper spray. The incident occurred during Yom Kippur in the Mamilla area of Jerusalem. Police from the Lev HaBira and David stations in the Jerusalem district, along with investigators from the Safed station in the Northern district, apprehended the suspect, a resident of Ganei Modi'in.
Investigators gathered evidence at the scene and conducted a reenactment with the child's parent. The suspect, who had recently been in northern Israel, was identified and arrested. He was taken to the Lev HaBira police station in Jerusalem for questioning regarding the motive and circumstances of the attack.
Police intend to bring the suspect before a court on Monday to request an extension of his detention, depending on the investigation's progress.
