Rabbi Reuven Sklar, chairman of the Chaim L’Yeled organization, visited Rabbi Moshe Tzadka Bergman to receive a blessing and discuss the group’s continued work for respiratory patients in Israel. Bergman, a member of the Council of Torah Sages, welcomed him warmly and praised his decades-long efforts on behalf of people with cystic fibrosis, lung diseases, and severe skin conditions such as psoriasis.
During the visit, Sklar outlined the organization’s daily activity, centered on its healing guesthouse, Rigeimim Ksmim, at the Dead Sea. The facility hosts hundreds of patients each year, including children and adults with CF, lung illnesses, and serious skin diseases, providing the medical and breathing support they need to survive and breathe, in his words, literally.
Sklar said the guesthouse is constantly full and demand from families is relentless, creating an urgent need to expand. He explained that construction of a new center is already underway and moving quickly. Although the organization has spent the past three years building the new medical center, it has continued caring for patients and families without interruption.
Bergman listened closely to the description of the patients’ year-round struggles and the help Chaim L’Yeled provides. He then offered a rare blessing, saying, “The activity of Chaim L’Yeled is entirely holy. Through your important actions, you are prolonging the lives of the sick. I wish you much success.” Sklar thanked him for the encouragement, saying it gives strength to continue the work and complete the expansion.
