Hagai Segal Blames Netanyahu for October 7 Failures

Hagai Segal, father of political commentator Amit Segal, stated on Sunday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu bears primary responsibility for the October 7th Hamas attack. Segal asserted that Netanyahu, in his capacity as Prime Minister, is "number 1 responsible for the October 7th failure." He also questioned the validity of reports regarding advance warnings Netanyahu received, calling the narrative of a Qatari or Egyptian warning "one of the biggest fakes in the history of Israeli media."

Segal elaborated on Netanyahu's responsibility, citing three reasons. First, he was the Prime Minister during the Hamas massacre. Second, his nearly 13 years in office prior to the attack meant he shaped the Israeli policies that ultimately led to the event. Third, Segal argued, a leader must bear responsibility for the most dramatic event in the nation's history.

This statement echoes sentiments previously expressed by his son, Amit Segal, who in a podcast interview last year estimated Netanyahu's responsibility at "over 50%" for similar reasons.
